Review of A Surprise Christmas Wedding by Phillipa Ashley

It has been a year since Lottie’s fiance walked out on her and leaving her heartbroken one week after they got engaged. However things start to look up when she lands her dream job at a a beautiful Lake District estate and the eligible and handsome groundskeeper who also happens to be her neighbour.

However when Lottie is asked to organise a last minute wedding at Firholme and she can not wait to sink her teeth into this. This is until she meets the couple who she discovers that Conner the man that broke her heart almost a year ago is the groom for this wedding. While the snows falls on the hills, can Lottie put aside her feelings and organise the perfect winter wedding? Once this has been done, will she find any festive magic left for Lottie to have the perfect Christmas that she deserves?

I am a sucker for a good friends to lovers story, and this is how Lottie and the groundskeeper find their relationship develops. This is the first of Philipa Ashley’s novels and I have found it captivating from her descriptions of the beautiful locations and also the well rounded developed character …. And the furry and loyal dog who accompanies the male lead character. You learn of the traumatic life which Lottie has had in the past twelve months from her fiance walking out to her to the family changing storyline of Lotties sister undergoes cancer treatment. I have to say that even though the timeline for this story is no more than 6 months Phillipa Ashely is able to pack a lot of story in the 400 pages which is this novel. I have to recommend this to anyone who loves a christmas romance story.
